Honolulu, HI – The Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation (HAF) is pleased to announce the release of the new Mika the Sous Chef limited edition collection for the holiday season. The collection features Mika the Sous Chef products such as a plush doll, cooking spoon, and facemask. Launching with the new limited edition collection is the second printing of the cookbook, Keiki in the Kitchen® with Mika the Sous Chef, which shares a story about a dog – Mika, a Lhasa Apso – who takes three kids to a farm, a fish auction and a ranch to share with them about where food comes from.The goal of the book is to create a basic level of appreciation in our keiki for local agriculture and to learn how to cook with local ingredients all while preparing delicious and fun recipes with their families. Items are available in gift sets in time for the holidays or sold separately.
Two Mika the Sous Chef gift boxes are available for purchase. The first gift box includes a copy of the Keiki in the Kitchen® with Mika the Sous Chef cookbook, Mika the Sous Chef plush doll, and cooking spoon for $39.99. The second gift box includes a Mika the Sous Chef plush doll, cooking spoon, and child’s facemask for $29.99. Sold separately, Keiki in the Kitchen® with Mika the Sous Chef retails for $19.99; plush doll at $18.99, cooking spoon at $4.99. and facemask at $7.99.
Written by HAF executive director Denise Yamaguchi and illustrated by Mark C.L. Ching of Digital Illustrations, Keiki in the Kitchen® with Mika the Sous Chef features 39 keiki-friendly recipes contributed by Hawai‘i’s top chefs whose restaurants support Hawaiʻi’s local farmers, ranchers and fisherman. All the recipes in the book incorporate at least one local product.
“We are excited to launch our new Mika the Sous Chef limited edition collection,” says Denise Yamaguchi, executive director of HAF. “The items are meant to complement the cookbook and encourage kids to have fun cooking in the kitchen with their families while learning about what’s locally grown here and why that’s important.”
All items can be pre-ordered online now at HAFMarketplace.com while supplies last, and will begin shipping on December 1, 2020, if not earlier, to arrive in time for the holidays. The first 300 orders will also receive a bonus Localicious® Art & Poetry 2021 Calendar. All proceeds will benefit the programs of the Hawai‘i Agricultural Foundation.
