It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for – and it was well worth the wait.

Happy Localicious Launch Day!

From now until the end of the month, you can join us in celebrating more than 170 restaurants that source local for the fourth annual Localicious Hawaii campaign. Whether you’re craving a mouth-watering dessert or a juicy steak sirloin, you can experience the best of Hawaii’s homegrown flavors just by ordering the “Localicious Dish” on the menu. These ono plates are made of 100% local ingredients and each purchase donates $1 towards expanding HAF’s ag education programs.

Localicious Hawaii is the state’s largest culinary initiative and raises funds for HAF’s Veggie U program, which gives fourth-grade teachers the tools they need to engage their students in farming methods, the local agriculture industry and healthy dietary choices. Since the campaign’s launch in 2014, approximately 60 public schools and 170 classrooms have received garden kits and structured, interactive curriculums.

Before you dig in, make sure you snap, post or tweet a photo of your dish using #LocaliciousHI for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a supporting eatery.

Localicious Hawaii 2017 is presented by ChefZone (a division of Y. Hata), with additional support provided by Hawaii Gas, Hawaii State Department of Agriculture, Honolulu Brewers’ Festival, HONOLULU Magazine, International Market Place, Paradise Cove and Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits.

Kids Cooking Local with Chef Matt

Get an inside look at Kids Cooking Local’s most recent cooking lesson at Jarrett Middle Schools! Hula Grill’s Chef Matt Young showed students the ins and outs of cooking their own meals and snacks using fresh, locally grown produce from HAFʻs Local Inside bag.

Sign Up for Oahu’s Favorite CSA Bag

Experience the joys of the farmers’ market in one convenient bag! HAF’s Local Inside program makes supporting local simple and works to the increase consumption of food grown and raised in the Hawaiian Islands.

Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA, is a farming system that brings growers and consumers together in mutual support of local food production. By purchasing a subscription, members can enjoy a weekly or bi-weekly share of the harvest throughout the entire season.

Our team works directly with the farmers from the HAF Ag Park at Kunia, Nalo Farms and other small farms across Oahu to collect the produce, pack it in an insulated, reusable bag and deliver it to 15 pick-up locations throughout the island.,

Contents in this week's bag included kai choi grown by the students at Leilehua High School, kale from the farmers at the HAF Ag Park at Kunia, garlic chives and chioggia beets from Nalo Farms and rainbow swiss chard, onions, and watermelon radish from Ho Farms.
